Dartmouth Organic Farm Field Trip

May 9, 2006

Just a few miles north of the Ray School, Dartmouth has a beautiful farm. Laura Quayle, and her colleague Brian, welcomed us in May to the Dartmouth Organic Farm. We visited the greenhouse, where we saw tomato plants at all stages of growth. Outside, we learned about the various components of good soil. We all took a turn at cranking the handle of the composting barrel.

We then went down to the fields along the river. We learned about the various plantings while trying to avoid the sprinkler. The students enjoyed a scavenger hunt with vocabulary words, and collected their prizes back at the barn.

Thanks, Laura and Brian, for a fun visit!
